ISIS Fighters in Possession of U.S. Anti-Tank Missiles

The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) has been terrorizing Iraq and Syria for over two years with relentless attacks on major cities and religious sites, while world powers like the United States (U.S.), France, and Great Britain struggle to dissipate the exponential growth and spread of this terrorist organization.

Part of the U.S.’ strategy to combat the rise of this terrorist organization has been to form a coalition of countries to carry-out airstrikes over the vast desert territory under ISIS’ control in Syria and Iraq; these aerial attacks have not only failed to obstruct ISIS’ growth in the aforementioned countries, but also, killed a number of civilians in the process.

Recently, the governments of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar have been given the green light to provide anti-tank TOW missiles to members of the “moderate” rebel groups in Syria; however, despite claims that only certain rebels would receive these powerful weapons, terrorist groups like the Syrian Al-Qaeda affiliate “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and “Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham” have been pictured using these U.S. manufactured missiles.

Not to be outdone by their radicalized Islamist counterparts, ISIS was recently pictured using the U.S. manufactured BGM-71 TOW missiles during their offensive at the ancient city of Palmyra in the deserts of east Homs, leaving many to question how this terrorist organization came to possess these weapons in the first place.
