Iraqi Forces Win Back 4 Key Villages in Mosul
Iraq’s joint military forces continued their advances in Nineveh province, and seized back four strategic villages in al-Qayyara region in the Southern part of Nineveh province.
The Iraqi forces are now in full control of the villages of al-Marir, al-Bazajeleh, Imam Gharbi and al-Tala’eh in al-Qayyara region to the South of the city of Mosul.
Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed and seven of their bomb-laden vehicles were also destroyed in the army offensive.
In a relevant development on Monday, Iraq’s joint military forces repelled ISIL’s attack on al-Qayyara region and its airbase, killing tens of terrorists in fierce clashes.
“At least 110 ISIL terrorists were killed in the Iraqi forces’ counterattack in al-Qayyara region,” the Arabic-language media quoted a high-ranking Iraqi officer as saying.
He said that the ISIL had launched heavy attacks on the Iraqi forces’ positions in al-Qayyara region.
