Russian Patriarch: Syria has wisdom and will enough to overcome war
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Patriarch Kirill stressed that Syria has wisdom and will enough to overcome the war launched against it.
Meeting Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow, Riad Haddad, Patriarch Kirill expressed gratitude to the Syrian government for contributing to freeing the Mar Thecla Convent nuns in Maloula, saying, “I would like to thank President Bashar al-Assad and I know that the Syrian government played a decisive role free the nuns.”
The Patriarch stressed that the Russian Orthodox Church and civil associations are sending aid to the Syrian people regardless of their religious belongings.
Ambassador Haddad stressed that Syria’s population regardless of their belongings are confronting terrorists since 2011, pointing out that 98 churches have been destroyed in Syria in addition to killing hundreds of Christians, including children as a result of the terrorists’ acts which also caused the destruction of over 1900 mosques and 4600 schools.
Ambassador Haddad added that due to the field achievements made by the Syrian Arab Army in Qusayr and Qalamon and the national reconciliations, Israel carried out a flagrant aggression and shelled several sites in Quneitra province and Turkey repeated this scenario through direct involvement in the attack on Kasab city and supporting the terrorist “al-Nusra Front”.
