Zahhar: No change in Hamas principles
Member of the Hamas political bureau, Mahmoud al-Zahhar, said on Saturday that the policy document prepared by Hamas Movement reflects the Movement’s policies in the next stage, noting that there is no change in its principles.
In an exclusive statement to the PIC, Zahhar explained that there is a difference between a document and a charter. A charter in any country, like the constitution, does not change, but a document is a tool and it changes.
Khaled Mishaal, the head of the Hamas political bureau, announced in February 2017 that his Movement is preparing a “policy document” that contains Hamas’s political legacy.
Zahhar affirmed that Hamas’s principles are stable, and added that resistance is an idea that has different tools.
The Palestinian leader stressed the need to achieve reconciliation and implement the Cairo agreements. He called for holding complete elections, including the municipal, legislative and presidential elections as well as the elections of the National Council, and accepting their results.
On the recent Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, Zahhar said that they point to the crisis Israel suffers following the state comptroller’s report that was issued proving that the Israeli leadership had failed politically and militarily in the latest war on Gaza.
