Syrian Army eliminates ISIL group storming key base in Deir Ezzor
The Islamic State (ISIL) launched a desperate assault in the Deir Ezzor countryside on Tuesday that targeting the strategic 137th Brigade Base.
ISIL began the assault by storming the hilltops located north of this installation; this attack would ultimately fail, as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) killed several terrorists at Tal Sannouf.
Following the failed attack on the hilltops, the Islamic State attempted to infiltrate the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the western axis of the 137th Brigade base; however, this attack would once again fail after more than two hours of battle.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army killed well-over 20 Islamic State militants near the 137th Brigade Base, including a large number of foreigners from Morocco and Iraq.
Recently, the Islamic State has launched a number of desperate attacks in the Deir Ezzor Governorate to alleviate the pressure on their forces in eastern Homs; this military endeavor has been relatively unsuccessful for the terrorist group, as it has cost them dozens of fighters.
