Syria: Terrorists Breach Ceasefire in Three Southern Provinces

Terrorist groups’ snipers opened fire at a vehicle that was carrying civilians to cut off Debka-Zibeen road in Southwestern Sweida, breaching the newly-declared ceasefire.

There civilians were killed and two others were injured in the attack.

In the meantime, terrorist groups’ Grade missile units shelled the army’s positions in Dara’a al-Balad district in the Southern part of Dara’a city.

Also, the terrorists’ mortar units targeted several times residential units in the town of al-Ba’ath and its surroundings, injuring a civilian.

The Syrian Army announced in a statement on Monday that a ceasefire was declared by the Syrian government forces in the Southern part of the country from Sunday until Thursday.

The General Command of the Syrian Armed Forces in a statement declared cessation of hostilities in the Southern parts of the country in the provinces of Dara’a, Quneitra and Sweida from 12 o’clock midday on 2-7-2017 until 00:00 on 6-7-2017 within the framework of the national reconciliation.

The Syrian army last declared ceasefire with the terrorist groups in Dara’a for 48 hours in mid-June, when a meeting was to be held between the Syrian army mediators and militants’ representatives to draw up a proper format for the ceasefire and its terms.

According to earlier reports, Jordanian and Syrian governments had been in talks to reopen the Nasib border crossing directly South of Dara’a city.
