Al-Qassam: Israel’s attack on Aqsa will reignite the intifada
Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has warned that Israel’s flagrant attack on the Aqsa Mosque and its war on Jerusalem “will stir up the embers under the ashes and reignite the Jerusalem intifada (uprising).”
“The resonance being caused by the Zionists’ aggression against the Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem will haunt the enemy leaders and set off renewed acts of heroism, God willing,” spokesman for the Brigades Abu Obeida stated on his Twitter page.
Israel’s recent restrictions on the entry of Muslims to the Aqsa Mosque have sparked angry protests in the occupied Palestinian territories and prompted Palestinian young men to clash with Israeli forces and rise up in defense of their Islamic holy site.
The latest reaction was a stabbing attack carried out on Friday evening by a Palestinian young man in the illegal settlement of Halamish, north of Ramallah. Three Jewish settlers from the same family died in the attack.
The attack was a response to Israel’s siege on the Aqsa Mosque and the death of three Palestinian citizens during violent clashes on the same day in different areas of Jerusalem. Two of the victims were killed by Israeli policemen and one was shot dead by a Jewish settler.
Hundreds of Palestinians also suffered different injuries yesterday when Israeli security and military forces attacked their pro-Aqsa protests in different flashpoint areas of Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
