Deir Ezzor update: Syrian Army advances along western bank of Euphrates River
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their offensive along the western bank of the Euphrates River Valley, Thursday, striking the Islamic State’s (ISIL) last positions in the Al-Baghiliyah District.
Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the Islamic State’s defenses around Al-Jazeera University, resulting in a fierce battle this morning.
According to local activists, the Syrian Army has liberated Al-Jazeera University’s campus and pressed deeper into the Al-Baghiliyah District in northern Deir Ezzor.
With heavy pressure on their forces in the southern outskirts of Deir Ezzor City, the Islamic State finds themselves in serious trouble as the Syrian Army advances along the western bank of the Euphrates River.
