Iran reveals domestically-made medicine for Parkinson’s disease

Iran has revealed its domestically-made medicine for Parkinson’s disease, a move which will enable the country to supply 70-80 percent of its demands for the product imported from other countries before.

Previously produced and supplied by a Swiss company, Loparkin formulation has been found for the Iranian medicine company to meet the demands of %1 elderly Iranians suffering from the disease.

Easier availability of the medicine for those in need and reduction of a $5 million currency from the country are among the key targets for the pharmacology industry of the country.Iranian patients have made the majority of victims to western sanctions.

The move has been made on early days of the Persian New Year named as the year to support domestic products by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.

Parkinson’s disease symptoms include muscle rigidity, tremors, and changes in speech and gait. After diagnosis, treatments can help relieve symptoms, but there is no cure for a disease which targets the nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine.
