Syrian Army, Palestinian forces attempt to break into ISIL’s southern Damascus stronghold

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their Palestinian allies resumed their offensive in the southern Damascus town of Hajar Al-Aswad, today, striking the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions at the southeastern and western axes of this terrorist stronghold.

Led by their Republican Guard forces, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies stormed the Islamic State’s positions in a bid to finally achieve a major breakthrough in Hajar Al-Aswad.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Army and their Palestinian allies were able to make some gains in Hajar Al-Aswad, today; however, they were unable to liberate anything significant.

ISIS has been heavily resisting the Syrian Army’s advance in Hajar Al-Aswad recently, inflicting significant casualties on the pro-government forces attempting to enter the terrorist-held neighborhoods.
