Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denounced the Israeli premier’s “ridiculous” and “shameful” show, during which he tried to persuade the world that Tehran has a “secret” nuclear program, saying the regime sees its survival dependent on demonizing others.
Standing in front of a large screen at the Israeli ministry for military affairs, Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday used props, video and slides to claim that Iran is lying about its nuclear program.
He showed documents and scores of CDs, which he said were “evidence” of Iran’s “secret” activities. The premier, however, did not go beyond making claims and refused to unveil the content of the materials he was presenting as alleged proof.
On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Netanyahu’s presentation was a repetition of Israel’s “futile” and “shameful” shows against Iran.
He referred to Netanyahu as a “lying and scandal-hit bankrupt,” who has “nothing to offer but rumor-mongering and deception.”
“The heads of the Zionist regime see the survival of their illegitimate and lie-based regime dependent on portraying others as threats using the worn-out Charlatanism of the Age of Ignorance,” Qassemi added.
Netanyahu and the “infanticidal” Israeli regime must have realized by now that the world opinion is mature enough not to fall for such gimmickry, said the Iranian official.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also reacted to Netanyahu’s allegations by saying that the Israeli prime minister was like the boy, who cries wolf.
This is not the first time the Israeli premier hits the spotlight by throwing accusations at Iran during exotic performances.
In February, he addressed the Munich Security Conference, holding up what he called was a piece of an Iranian drone which the Israeli military had downed, saying his regime could “act” directly against the Islamic Republic.
In September 2012, he displayed a cartoonish diagram of a bomb while addressing the United Nations General Assembly to claim that Iran was on the verge of building an atomic warhead.
