Breaking: Rebels in northern Homs begin handing over their heavy weapons to Syrian military
The rebel forces in northern Homs have begun handing over their weapons to the Syrian military, a source told Al-Masdar News this afternoon.
According to the source, the rebels handed over a large quantity of weapons near the Al-Rastan Brigade; thus fulfilling the first part of the ceasefire agreement.
In exchange for the rebels handing over their heavy weapons, the Syrian government will provide buses to transport their fighters and family members to the northern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib.
The source added the Syrian Army informed the rebels that those who had handed their weapons today would get a better deal than the other militants.
While some have handed over their weapons, there still remains a lot of opposition from the rebels regarding the surrender of northern Homs to the government.
