Thousands of Syrian soldiers training in Latakia for upcoming offensive near Turkish border
Thousands of soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Syrian Marines are training in the Latakia Governorate for their upcoming offensive along the Turkish border.
According to a military source in Damascus, the soldiers are completing a rigorous training regimen in the mountains of eastern Latakia before they depart to the Jabal Al-Akrad and Jabal Al-Turkmen regions.
The first phase of the offensive will concentrate on sealing the Latakia-Turkey border, which is partially controlled by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
The second phase of the offensive will be conducted in the Al-Ghaab Plain and carried out until the Syrian Army reaches the southern axis of Jisr Al-Shughour.
Once they reach Jisr Al-Shughour, the Syrian Army will attempt to capture this imperative city and clear the border points in this imperative district in western Idlib.
