Terrorist infighting in Syria’s Afrin kills several terrorists
Clashes broke out between two Turkish-backed rebel groups in the Syrian northern city of Afrin as death toll from both warring parties rises.
Militants from Ahrar al-Sham and Shamiyah Front engaged in heavy firefight using light and medium weapons. This resulted in scores of militiamen killed and wounded, in addition to casualties among civilians.
The reasons behind the infighting is yet to be revealed.
Turkish military vehicles were seen heading Al-Sarayah area – where the clashes first erupted – in order to contain the situation.
Last March, Turkish-backed rebel groups took over Afrin region after months-long battles against the Kurdish militia. The city has been shamefully looted ever since.
