Syrian special forces carry out mission behind enemy lines to wipe out terrorist unit
A new unit from the Syrian special forces recently carried out an operation behind enemy lines in the Idlib Governorate, a military source in Dmascus told Al-Masdar News.
According to the source, the Syrian special forces slipped behind enemy lines in the Al-Ghaab Plain and reached the rebel-held town of Haqoura.
Once inside Haqoura, the Syrian special forces positioned themselves to launch an ambush against a group of rebels that were supposedly traveling through the town.
The Syrian special forces then carried out the ambush and wiped out the entire rebel group before slipping back to friendly lines.
Pro-opposition activists reported that five fighters were killed and seven other combatants were badly wounded after “unknown assailants” opened fire on the group.
This special forces unit was reportedly trained by the Russian military and is expected to carry out more missions in the future.
