Hezbollah will help facilitate return of refugees to Syria: Sayeed Nasrallah
Hezbollah’s Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, conducted a televised speech on Friday that touched on a number of different topics affecting Lebanon and the region.
Sayyed Nasrallah began his speech on Friday by discussing the ongoing return of refugees to Syria.
“We in Hezbollah, and considering our good and strong relations with the Syrian state, want to take the lead. We will establish direct contact with the displaced Syrians and we will compile lists of names to be submitted to the concerned authorities in Syria in collaboration with the Lebanese General Security agency,” Nasrallah said in a televised address via al-Manar channel.
He went on to say that his party had tasked the former lawmaker, Nawwar Saheli, with announcing locations and phone numbers for refugees wishing to contact Hezbollah.
He added that popular committees would also be formed for this purpose.
Recently, over 600 refugees left the east Lebanon city of ‘Arsal to return to Syria; this is the first batch of refugees to be transported to the Qalamoun region of Damascus.
