Nusra intensifies crackdown on whoever promotes reconciliation with Syrian government
Dozens of people were arrested across the western countryside of Idlib as Nusra terror group conducted a wide-scale security clampdown against those prompting reconciliation agreements with the Syrian government.
The latest security campaign were carried out to arrest up to 210 people who were blacklisted by the ruling terror organization.
Previously, scores of people, including prominent dignitaries, have been detained for the same reason.
Local activists reported that a firefight broke out when some people resisted the arrest. Some of them were shot dead by jihadi militants, according to the same source.
The crackdown sparked a public outrage among civilians who accused Nusra and other affiliated factions of arbitrary arrest and oppression.
