6 Palestinians Injured, Houses Attacked, Olive Groves Burned in Nablus
Muslims in London mobilized outside an Islamic Center on Saturday following recent Islamophobic violence by anti-Iran protesters.
On Sunday September 25, London witnessed an outpouring of anti-Muslim attacks as protesters claiming to support Mahsa Amini were filmed attacking Shia Muslims commemorating Arba’een and the Iranian Islamic Center of England following clashes with police outside Iran’s Embassy.
Protests over the death of Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who collapsed at a police station on September 16 and later died at hospital, started shortly after her death was announced.
Those protests soon turned into violent riots, with masked people attacking security officers, resorting to vandalism and desecrating religious sanctities, including hijab burning.
Dissident groups outside of Iran were quick to board the bandwagon, engaging in violent protests throughout Europe, especially in London and Paris.
A police presence remains outside the Islamic Center with locals informing me of anti-Iran groups continuing to target the site.
Saturday’s demonstration were peaceful and without any further incident, but local Muslims remain angry that authorities failed to protect their community.
