Hezbollah chief, Iranian MPs discuss regional issues, closer cooperation
The secretary general of the Hezbollah resistance movement and a group of Iranian legislators have met and discussed the latest regional developments, including the status quo in Lebanon and across the occupied Palestinian territories.
During a meeting in the Lebanese capital city of Beirut on Saturday, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis (the Iranian parliament), headed by the commission chairman Vahid Jalalzadeh, reviewed recent events in the Palestinian territories.
Israeli forces launch raids on various cities of the West Bank on an almost daily basis under the pretext of detaining what it calls “wanted” Palestinians. The raids usually lead to violent confrontations with residents.
Over the past months, Israel has ramped up attacks on Palestinian towns and cities throughout the occupied territories. As a result of these attacks, dozens of Palestinians have lost their lives and many others have been arrested.
More than 200 Palestinians have been killed this year in the occupied Palestinian territories and the besieged Gaza Strip. The majority of these fatalities have been recorded in the West Bank.
The two sides in the Beirut meeting also exchanged viewpoints on the circumstances in Lebanon as well as enhancement of relations of bilateral cooperation.
Nasrallah is expected to deliver a speech on Monday evening, on the occasion of Hezbollah’s victory in the 33-day Israeli military onslaught on Lebanon in the summer of 2006.
