Kamikaze drone attack targets illegal US base in eastern Syria: Report
A kamikaze drone has reportedly struck an illegal outpost housing the United States’ occupation forces in eastern Syria.
Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television news network announced the development in a report in early Thursday.
The report specified the target of the attack as the base that houses the US troops in the Conoco gas field in the Syrian province of Dayr al-Zawr.
The drone has hit the “specified target,” resulting in a “massive explosion” that rang out throughout the nearby areas, it noted.
The extent of the likely casualties or material damages resulting from the strike is yet to be known.
No person or group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
The attack, however, bears the hallmark of numerous such strikes that have been carried out against targets housing American forces across the Arab country and neighboring Iraq by the latter’s Islamic Resistance.

The Resistance, an umbrella anti-terror group, has escalated its attacks against such targets since October 7 last year, when the Israeli regime began waging its yet-ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.
The Iraqi strikes have been seeking to protest the United States’ unbridled political and military support for the war that began following al-Aqsa Storm, a surprise operation staged by Gaza’s resistance movements.
The US has so far blocked the passage of three United Nations Security Council resolutions that have called for implementation of an immediate cessation in the Israeli military onslaught.
Washington has already supplied the Israeli regime with more than 10,000 tons of military equipment.
Washington has also armed Tel Aviv with more than 10,000 tons of military hardware since the onset of the warfare.
