Two police forces killed in terrorist attack in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province
At least two Iranian police forces have been killed in a terrorist attack in the country’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
In a statement on Saturday, the police command center of Sistan and Baluchestan said the terrorists attacked a police unit in the Kurin District of Zahedan County and killed two officers and injured one.
During the clashes, a terrorist was shot and killed while efforts are underway to detain other armed assailants, it added.
An IRGC commander says the security situation is back to normal in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The attack came two days after the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terror outfit conducted simultaneous attacks against a headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as well as a marine police and a police station in Rask and Chabahar Counties.
Commander of the IRGC’s Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Thursday that 11 security forces were killed in the attacks. He added that 15 terrorists were slain in the clashes.
Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has witnessed several terror attacks targeting both civilians and security forces in the past years.
Iran’s security forces have protected the border and managed to repel almost all assaults by foreign-backed terrorists.
