Hamas denounces US military aid to Israel as ‘green light’ for Gaza ‘aggression’
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned the US House of Representatives’ approval of billions of dollars in new military aid to Israel, saying the measure is a “green light” for the occupying regime to continue its brutal war against the besieged Gaza Strip.
Hamas made the remarks in a statement on Sunday, a day after the US House of Representatives voted on a bill to provide $26 billion in military aid to Israel.
“The US administration and President Biden personally bear political, legal, and moral responsibility for the war crimes committed by the criminal Zionist entity against our Palestinian people through this support which violates international law,” Hamas said.
The resistance group went on to say that this support constitutes a “license and green light” for the Israeli regime to continue its brutal aggression against Palestinians, and the blatant violation of all international laws and humanitarian norms.
The US House of Representatives passes huge so-called aid package aimed at Israel, Ukraine, and the Chinese Taipei.
“We regard this step as confirmation of the official US complicity and partnership in the genocide being waged by the fascist occupation army against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” it added.
On Saturday, the US House of Representatives passed a whopping $95-billion so-called aid package aimed at the Israeli regime, Ukraine, and the Chinese Taipei amid warnings about further contribution by Washington to global crises.
The bills, passed in a rare session, were approved in quick succession by overwhelming bipartisan votes.
The draft legislation send $60.84 billion to Ukraine, allocate $8.12 billion for the Indo-Pacific, including Taipei (Taiwan), and provide $26 billion for the Israeli regime, which has been engaged in a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip since last October.
Israel has launched new airstrikes on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, killing at least seven Palestinians.
Hamas further reacted to a mass grave unearthed at the Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis two weeks after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the southern Gaza city, blaming the US for the crime.
“If it were not for the unlimited political and military support of the US to the Israeli regime, the terrible crimes of this regime’s army would not have continued,” it said.
Israel waged a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7 after Hamas carried out a historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
So far, Israel has killed at least 34,049 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured nearly 76,901 others.
Since the start of the Gaza onslaught, the US, Israel’s most dedicated ally, has fast-tracked arms shipments to the occupying regime.
Washington has also vetoed all the UN Security Council resolutions that called for an immediate ceasefire in the besieged Palestinian territory.
