US not serious in fighting ISIL Takfiris
A political analyst has cast doubt on Washington’s sincerity in its anti-ISIL efforts, saying the United States is not after eradicating such Takfiri groups operating in the Middle East, Press TV reports.
In a recent interview with Press TV, Ibrahim Mousawi said the US is not serious in the fight against the ISIL terrorists, who are wreaking havoc in Iraq and Syria, adding that “they do not want to get rid of them, they do not want to eradicate them, and they do not want to eliminate them.”
Washington cashes in on such Takfiri groups in a bid to pursue its own objectives in the region, said Mousawi, stressing that the White House seeks to derive benefit from the extremist terrorists “rather than eradicating the problem from its roots.”
The ISIL took control of large swathes of Syria before sending its members into neighboring Iraq in June and seizing large parts of land there.
The Takfiri militants have committed heinous crimes and threatened all communities in their terror operations in both neighboring Arab countries.
Last month, US President Barack Obama authorized the use of targeted airstrikes to prevent the advance of ISIL terrorists in Iraq and to protect American personnel and interests inside the country. He has said the air raids could go on for months.
This is while the US administration has been providing arms and training to similar militant groups in neighboring Syria to fight the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
In June, American news website, WorldNetDaily, quoted unnamed Jordanian officials as saying that US military instructors trained ISIL Takfiri militants at a secret base in Jordan in 2012.
