Backed by US, Israel committing ‘crimes against humanity’: Iran Foreign Ministry spox
Iran says the “terrorist and racist” Israeli regime is fully supported by the US and its Western allies in committing “crimes against humanity” for several decades.
“The Zionist regime is a racist terrorist regime that has been engaged in gross and systematic violations of the basic, natural and human rights of the Palestinian people and perpetrating ‘crimes against humanity’ for several decades with the full support from the West, especially the US government,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani said in a post on his X account on Thursday.
He added that the Israeli regime has killed 40,000 innocent Palestinian people, including some 15,000 children, and injured more than 100,000 people in the Gaza Strip during its 10-month-old war.
Since the beginning of the war in Gaza in October, thousands of Palestinians have also been missing under the rubble, the Iranian spokesperson noted.
Kan’ani lashed out at the US officials for “brazenly” calling Palestinians and resistance groups terrorist and expressing support for Israel which is committing crimes.
“The American government says it is committed to defending Israel in the face of ‘terrorists’!”
The closure of the vital crossing has so far led to the deaths of over 1000 children and patients in Gaza.
Kan’ani emphasized that through an “absurd and false logic”, the American government is providing the Israeli regime with financial, arms and political support in its genocide against Palestinians.
He said the US’s all-out support for Israel is an absolute disgrace and makes Washington liable for prosecution, which can be pursued through legal channels, as an international obligation of states.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023 after Palestinian resistance groups carried out a surprise retaliatory operation into the occupied territories.
Concomitantly with the war, the regime has been enforcing a near-total siege on the coastal territory, which has reduced the flow of foodstuffs, medicine, electricity, and water into the Palestinian territory into a trickle.
