Ayatollah Khamenei Praises Iraq for Hosting Arbaeen Pilgrimage

The president of Iran delivered a message of gratitude from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to the Iraqi nation for hosting pilgrims in the massive processions in commemoration of Arbaeen.

During an official visit to Baghdad on Wednesday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian delivered the message from Ayatollah Khamenei to the Iraqi nation.

In the written message submitted to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, the Leader has lauded the “Iraqi brothers” for the dignified treatment of Arbaeen pilgrims in the pavilions built along the routes to Karbala.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the Arbaeen procession is unprecedented in history, adding that the protection of security and health of tens of millions of pilgrims in Iraq was also a great and admirable job in today’s unsafe world.

The Leader also paid tribute to Iraqis for expressing Islamic generosity and Arabic dignity in their action during the Arbaeen season.

Arbaeen marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), in 680 AD.

This year, the Iraqi city of Karbala, which hosts the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), attracted millions of pilgrims, even non-Muslims, who create the world’s hugest human gathering in modern history.
