Palestinian combatants launch attacks on ‘israeli’ military installations on the anniversary of the al-Aqsa Flood

Palestinian militant groups have initiated a significant counteroffensive targeting numerous Israeli military installations, coinciding with the first anniversary of Operation al-Aqsa Storm, a landmark event against the occupied Palestinian territories.

Militants from the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed faction associated with the Gaza Strip-based resistance group Hamas, launched an attack on several locations using 114mm Rajum rockets on Monday, according to reports.

The targets have been identified as a military base near Sufa in the northwestern Negev desert, enemy assembly points at Gaza’s Rafah crossing, areas surrounding the Holit settlement near the coastal strip, and the operations center at the Kerem Shalom military site.

Prior to initiating their retaliatory actions, the brigades issued a statement commending the operation known as al-Aqsa Storm, a concerted endeavor executed by their members in collaboration with fighters from the al-Quds Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Jihad resistance movement.

In a significant escalation, Palestinian fighters launched an operation in response to heightened Israeli military actions, infiltrating occupied territories and seizing control of Israeli military installations and settlements surrounding Gaza. The operation resulted in the capture of over 240 Israelis.

Following a military operation, the Israeli authorities have imposed a severe campaign on Gaza, resulting in significant casualties. Reports indicate that the conflict has so far resulted in the deaths of approximately 42,000 Palestinians, a large number of whom are women and children.

During the commemoration of the first anniversary of the al-Aqsa Storm on Sunday, Khalil al-Hayya, a prominent figure within the Political Bureau of Hamas, stated that the initiative had effectively undermined the “perceived military superiority” of the opposing regime.

He stated that the regime has been unable and will continue to be unable to achieve its goals through the use of force, emphasizing that the resistance fighters remain resolute in their mission.

In a recent declaration, al-Hayya articulated their unequivocal aim, underscoring their commitment to achieving full liberation of their territory and sacred sites. Additionally, the statement emphasized the pursuit of establishing a sovereign and independent Palestinian state, alongside ensuring the return of refugees to their homeland.
