Iran FM: Potential targets within ‘israel’ identified for possible retaliation if it launches an attack on Iran
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a warning, stating that the nation has "identified all its targets" in the occupied territories as part of a potential retaliatory measure against Israel.
In an interview with Turkish broadcaster NTV on Saturday, Araghchi addressed the escalating tensions following Israel’s threats to initiate military strikes against Iran.
A spokesperson stated that any offensive action targeting Iran would be viewed as a breach of its red line and would prompt a response. He emphasized that Iran is prepared to retaliate as deemed necessary against attacks on its nuclear facilities or any related incursions.
“We have pinpointed all our objectives within the occupied territories and plan to conduct a comparable assault on those targets.”
Araghchi highlighted Iran’s missile strike on Israeli military, intelligence, and espionage facilities on October 1 as a retaliatory response to what Tehran describes as the regime’s brutal assassinations of prominent leaders within the resistance movement.
During the operation, he reported that 90 percent of the Iranian missiles successfully struck their intended targets, emphasizing that these targets were exclusively military installations and did not include economic or civilian sites.
Since early October 2023, Israel has conducted significant military operations on two fronts, resulting in the reported deaths of at least 42,519 individuals in the Gaza Strip and 2,448 in Lebanon, according to recent figures.
During the same timeframe, the occupying regime has notably assassinated several resistance leaders, including Yahya Sinwar, a prominent figurehead of the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement, as confirmed by official sources.
Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the death of Yahya Sinwar will not deter Hamas’ operations; instead, it is expected to bolster the group’s resolve and inspire Palestinian youth.
He criticized the United States for its backing of Israel, asserting that the Israeli regime would not be able to sustain itself or perpetrate actions in Gaza and Lebanon without the support of Washington.
The senior Iranian diplomat asserted that, should the United States possess genuine political resolve, it could successfully intervene to cease hostilities and restrain Israeli actions.
According to statements from authorities, the United States is perceived as an ally of the Zionist regime. Officials have expressed concerns that any escalation into a large-scale conflict in the region could inadvertently involve the United States, a development that they are keen to avoid.
He also cautioned that the conflict could extend to nations in the Persian Gulf, but emphasized that “there remains an opportunity for diplomatic efforts; we must not rely entirely on the decisions of a single individual within the Zionist regime.”
