Iran commits to supporting Syria and the Resistance movement
The Iranian Foreign Minister has expressed Tehran's endorsement of strengthened ties between Syria and Turkey as a measure to promote regional stability. He affirmed that Iran remains committed to supporting Syria and the broader Resistance movement.
During a joint press conference held on Tuesday with Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam al-Sabbagh, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that discussions had taken place concerning the situation in Gaza, Lebanon, and broader regional affairs.
Araghchi hailed the negotiations as highly successful and productive, expressing gratitude to the Syrian government and President Bashar Assad for their humanitarian efforts in accommodating Lebanese and Syrian refugees.
Araghchi announced Iran’s endorsement of efforts to enhance Syria’s diplomatic and cooperative ties with Arab nations.
An Iranian official emphasized the importance of resolving disagreements between Syria and Türkiye through peaceful means, underscoring the need to respect Syria’s territorial integrity. He further stated, “We advocate for the strengthening of ties between Syria and Türkiye as a means to stabilize the region.”
Iran’s senior diplomat reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering support for Syria and the Resistance, committing to provide comprehensive assistance in this context.
The Syrian Foreign Minister stated that productive talks had been conducted to enhance bilateral relations, emphasizing that these discussions mirror the strong ties between the two nations.
Al-Sabbagh stated that the region is experiencing significant developments as a result of actions attributed to the Zionist regime. Initially targeted at Palestine, these actions have reportedly expanded into Lebanon and have also been observed in Syria.
The speaker stated that the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights must be brought to an end, further highlighting the importance of bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism and eliminate its root causes.
The Syrian diplomat emphasized their stance against any form of occupation and affirmed Iran’s right to address and respond to any acts of aggression.
