US-israel backed terrorists initiate significant assault on Syrian Army forces in Aleppo
A coalition of foreign-supported insurgent groups and opposition militants has initiated a significant offensive against Syrian military positions in the northwestern province of Aleppo. In response, Syrian army forces are engaged in intense conflict to counter the large-scale assault.
Local media sources have reported that on Wednesday, fighters associated with the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorist group, along with allied armed factions, successfully seized control of at least 10 territories previously held by the Syrian military. These areas are located in the western part of Aleppo city and the eastern countryside of Idlib.
The United Kingdom-based monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), reported that nearly 100 soldiers and militants from opposing sides have been killed amid intense clashes.
According to reports from activists affiliated with the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), 44 fighters from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) were killed, alongside 16 militants from allied armed groups.
In a recent statement, the observatory reported that 37 members of the Syrian forces, including a minimum of four officers across various ranks, have been killed. Additionally, five members have been captured. The incident also resulted in the seizure of weapon depots, armored vehicles, machinery, and heavy weaponry.
The monitoring group reported that during recent clashes, civilians, including children, have tragically been killed and injured. The violence involved the Syrian army forces launching “hundreds of shells and missiles” targeting both civilian and military positions.
Lebanon-based al-Mayadeen television reported, citing a source in Idlib, Syria, that Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has instructed all hospitals in the city and the northern rural areas to cease regular surgical procedures. The directive is aimed at prioritizing treatment for militants wounded in ongoing conflicts.
According to a source, the militant group employed rocket launchers and mortars to facilitate their advance towards Syrian military positions in Qabtan al-Jabal, Bala, and Sheikh Aqil, located west of Aleppo.
Following the commencement of hostilities, the Syrian army launched a series of comprehensive assaults, bolstered by reconnaissance aircraft and the collaborative efforts of the Syrian and Russian air forces. These operations targeted strategic locations surrounding the conflict zone, including critical supply routes of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, extending from the outskirts of Idlib city to the Taftanaz military airport camp situated east of Idlib, according to a Syrian source.
The Syrian military has reportedly intensified shelling near the militant-controlled city of Idlib, as well as in the nearby cities of Ariha and Sarmada. This action extends to several other locations within the southern region of Idlib Province.
In a coordinated military operation last month, Russian and Syrian aircraft launched a series of airstrikes on locations associated with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the countrysides of Idlib and Latakia, Syria. The operation targeted training facilities and storage sites connected to the terrorist group, along with an underground tunnel near the town of Benin in Jabal al-Zawiya.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, previously identified as the Nusra Front, is classified as a terrorist organization by Syria, Russia, and multiple other nations.
Since March 2011, Syria has been engulfed in a conflict driven by foreign-backed militancy, according to statements from Damascus. Syrian authorities accuse Western nations and their regional partners of supporting terrorist groups with the intent of destabilizing the nation.
Militant groups are attempting to disrupt the Syrian government’s initiatives to establish security and stability within the nation, which is further challenged by frequent Israeli military actions.
