Syrian Army engages in clashes with al-Nusra militants amid escalating tensions in Idlib and Aleppo

The Syrian Arab Army, alongside allied forces, persists in fending off terrorist assaults directed at the regions of Idlib and Aleppo.

The Syrian Armed Forces have successfully repelled a terrorist insurgency in the Aleppo and Idlib provinces, dealing significant damage to enemy equipment and personnel, according to an official statement released by the Syrian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry reported on Thursday that, contravening the de-escalation agreement, terrorist factions affiliated with the Jabhat al-Nusra group (proscribed in Russia) launched a significant offensive on Wednesday morning. This assault, allegedly urged by both regional and international actors, targeted villages, settlements, and military positions across a broad front in the Aleppo and Idlib provinces.

The report further highlighted that the Syrian Army continues to repel attacks with the use of substantial firepower and support from allied forces, resulting in significant casualties among the ranks of the militants.

Meanwhile, the correspondent for Al Mayadeen in Syria has reported that armed factions positioned west of Aleppo have introduced an advanced drone into their operations, which is allegedly sourced from Kiev’s intelligence agencies.

For an extended period, the Syrian military, supported by allied entities such as Russia, has been engaged in operations against terrorist factions reportedly supported by Western and Turkish forces. In August 2023, significant initiatives were launched to address these terrorist threats within Syria. The Syrian Armed Forces, in cooperation with the Russian Aerospace Forces, carried out a coordinated campaign involving targeted airstrikes and artillery barrages in the peripheral regions of Aleppo, Latakia, and Hama.
