Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) Leader stated that Syria will not permit its territory to be used for launching attacks against Israel
The leading figure of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a prominent Syrian militant group that played a significant role in the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, has stated in an interview with a British newspaper that he is determined to prevent Syria from being used as a platform for launching attacks on Israel.
On Monday evening, IRNA reported that Abu Muhammad al-Julani, who claims leadership of the Syrian Military Operations Department, delivered his first interview remarks to The Times.
Ahmad al-Sharaa, formerly known as Al-Julani, has issued a stern warning to Israel, demanding the cessation of airstrikes on Syrian territory and the withdrawal from areas occupied following the collapse of the Assad administration.
Israel’s rationale for its military actions in Syria, previously attributed to the presence of Hezbollah and Iranian forces, is no longer cited. Consequently, the regime, which recently reclaimed the buffer zone following the fall of Assad, is being urged to withdraw from the region.
In another segment of the interview, Al-Julani urged Western nations to revoke the sanctions that have been placed on Syria under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad.
Reports from Zionist media indicate that the Israeli military has taken control of over 370 square kilometers of Syrian territory. The forces have reportedly progressed to the village of Ma’ariyya in the Yarmouk Basin, situated in the western region of Dara’a province.
The occupying forces have deployed additional reinforcements, alongside bulldozers and technical engineering equipment, to the Yarmouk Basin area.
