Israeli media claim ceasefire for Gaza about to be announced

Reports from various Israeli media sources suggest that a ceasefire in Gaza could be declared by Tuesday afternoon. This development may bring to a close a devastating conflict in the Palestinian territory, which has resulted in the deaths of over 46,500 civilians, including men, women, and children. The military actions have been condemned internationally, with numerous countries labeling the situation a genocide.**

Hamas has yet to verify the reports.

According to Channel 14, an Israeli official disclosed that Steve Witkoff, envoy for US President-elect Donald Trump, delivered a firm directive to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to negotiate a settlement.

He stated that the agreement is expected to secure the backing of the majority within Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet.

According to a report by Axios, which referenced information from an official source, Israel plans to pull back its troops from certain sensitive zones within the Gaza Strip as part of the initial stage of the ceasefire agreement.

According to the report, Israeli forces will be obligated to undertake a phased withdrawal from the specified areas.
