Israel initiates a lethal assault on Jenin as Hamas issues a call for mobilization

Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin have resulted in the deaths of at least eight Palestinians and left 35 others injured. In response, Hamas has issued a call for the complete mobilization of Palestinian youth to oppose the occupation forces.

According to reports from Palestinian media outlets, government forces, supported by helicopter units, conducted a raid on Jenin and its adjacent refugee camp on Tuesday morning. This operation followed a series of drone strikes in the area.

Anwar Rajab, the spokesperson for the Palestinian security forces, announced that Israeli forces engaged in gunfire targeting civilians and security personnel, leading to injuries among several civilians and security officers. Among the injured, one security officer is reported to be in critical condition.

The Israeli military, in conjunction with police and intelligence services, has launched a substantial operation aimed at eradicating terrorism, as described by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The incident in Jenin, where government forces have conducted numerous raids and large-scale operations over the past year, occurred just two days following the commencement of a highly anticipated ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.

Hamas has issued a statement expressing condolences for the individuals in Gaza, referring to them as “martyrs of Jenin,” who were reportedly killed during what they described as an attack involving fire and bombardment by occupying forces.

The resistance group has called upon the “rebellious youth” in Jenin to mobilize and intensify confrontations with the Israeli military forces.

Hamas has declared that the offensive initiated by Israeli forces in Jenin is destined to fail, akin to previous military operations against Palestinians in Gaza.

The resistance group, which engaged Israeli forces for a period of 741 days within the blockaded Gaza Strip, declared its unprecedented operation against the occupied territories in October 2023 as “the final nail in the coffin of the crumbling Israeli regime.”
