Iran set to inaugurate its first high-speed train

An official from the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) has confirmed that the high-speed train service between Tehran and Mashhad is set to commence operations by next week.**

In a ceremony marking the appointment of the new director general for the Railways Department in Qom Province, Ali Kazemi-Manesh, the Director for Planning and Monitoring Rail Services at the Railway of the Islamic Republic of Iran (RAI), announced that the high-speed train service will soon connect Tehran to Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan, in a reduced travel time of just 8 hours and 20 minutes.

Kazemi-Manesh highlighted the pivotal role of the railway system’s advancement in promoting sustainable development. He emphasized that integrating the railway network with major industrial hubs stands as one of the primary strategic priorities of the Islamic Republic.

He noted a substantial rise in the transportation of goods and passengers, alongside advancements in the railroad infrastructure within Qom Province over the past four years.

An official has stated that the National Consensus Government places significant importance on the expansion of the railway network. He further expressed optimism that this initiative would enhance the quality of services provided.
