Hamas Condemns US Redesignation of Yemen’s Ansarullah as ‘Terrorist’ Group

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas denounced the United States’ decision to label Yemen’s Ansarullah movement as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), calling the move unjustified and reflective of pro-Israel bias.
Hamas issued a statement on Friday criticizing the US decision as a retaliatory measure targeting Yemenis for their support of Gaza during recent escalations.
Hamas accused the United States of undermining regional stability by backing Israel, which it labeled the “real source of terrorism and tension in the region.”
The resistance group urged Washington to reconsider its designation and abandon favoritism towards Israel.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump officially classified Yemen’s Ansarullah movement as an FTO.
This followed Ansarullah-linked military actions in the region, including assaults on US Navy ships and Israel-affiliated vessels since November 2023, conducted in solidarity with Palestinians amid Israeli violence in Gaza.
Yemen’s Ansarullah political bureau also condemned the decision.
In a statement released Thursday, Ansarullah described the move as a “desperate attempt” to weaken Yemeni solidarity with Palestinians and enable further Israeli crimes against them.
The movement said the US measure aimed to increase Palestinian suffering while shielding Israeli crimes in Gaza.
It also accused the US of historical complicity in terrorism and dismissed its authority to label other groups as terrorists.
