Zionist military forces fatally shot a pregnant Palestinian woman, resulting in the death of her unborn child

In a recent incident at the Nur Shams refugee camp in the northwest of the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces have reportedly shot and killed an eight-month pregnant Palestinian woman along with her unborn child.

According to a report by the WAFA news agency on Sunday, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the identity of the victim as 23-year-old Sundus Jamal Shalabi. The ministry reported that Shalabi lost her unborn child due to Israeli gunfire, an incident that also left her husband in critical condition.

According to the ministry, attempts by medical teams to save the fetus were unsuccessful after occupation soldiers obstructed the transport of the injured to the hospital.

A pregnant woman and her unborn child were pronounced dead upon arrival at Thabet Thabet Hospital in Tulkarm. Her husband, facing critical injuries, was transported to a medical facility in Ramallah for further treatment.

According to reports from WAFA, Israeli snipers positioned on rooftops in Nur Shams allegedly fired upon Sundus and her husband as they attempted to evacuate their al-Saleheen area residence in search of safety.

In the early hours of Sunday, Israeli forces initiated an operation in the Nur Shams camp, utilizing heavy machinery and bulldozers. Several homes in the area were reportedly stormed during the operation.

According to reports, forces aligned with the regime have sealed off entry routes to the Nur Shams refugee camp, repurposing residences within the area into military outposts and sniper vantage points.

In recent developments, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has announced that Israeli soldiers obstructed its medical teams from accessing the camp, despite emerging reports indicating the presence of casualties.

On January 21, the Israeli military initiated an operation in the northern regions of the West Bank, stating that the campaign was aimed at neutralizing fighters from the Jenin Battalion.

On Saturday, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry issued an urgent appeal for international intervention to halt what it describes as Israel’s ongoing “ethnic cleansing” in the occupied West Bank.

Reports indicate that Israeli forces have conducted operations in the refugee camps of Tulkarem, Jenin, and Far’a, allegedly displacing residents from these areas, actions that have sparked accusations of violating international law and the Geneva Conventions.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has intensified its operations in the West Bank following the commencement of a military campaign in the Gaza Strip.

Since that time, more than 900 Palestinians have lost their lives in the occupied West Bank due to actions by regime forces.
