Hamas: Netanyahu’s vision of an ‘absolute victory’ transformed into a ‘shattered illusion’

Hamas has welcomed the recent release of numerous Palestinians from Israeli detention facilities, asserting that the current events have shattered the perceived myth of the Israeli regime's invulnerability.

The Gaza-based Palestinian resistance movement issued a statement on Saturday, declaring that it had transformed the Israeli prime minister’s “wild dream” of achieving “absolute victory” in their campaign against Gaza into a “shattered illusion.”

Hamas has declared that the “remarkable scenes” witnessed during the handover process, along with statements from the Resistance regarding the “future,” affirm that their people and the resistance are in a position of strength. They assert that these developments bring them closer to achieving return, freedom, and self-determination.

The statement emphasized that the Palestinian population continues to steadfastly support the Resistance and categorically reject the Israeli occupation. This stance reflects their firm denunciation of initiatives by US President Donald Trump, which they perceive as efforts to displace them and occupy their territories. The Palestinian people have reiterated their resolute determination to counter and prevent the implementation of these projects.

The goals envisioned by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli military over the course of 471 days have now, according to recent developments, transformed into unattainable ambitions, as evidenced by ongoing events in Gaza.

In a newly released statement, a reaffirmation of solidarity was extended to the resilient Palestinian people, acknowledging their determination and commitment to the cause of resistance. The message underscored a unified resolve to pursue the path towards liberation and the establishment of an independent state, with al-Quds designated as its capital.

Hamas has emphasized that Palestinian resistance groups have complied with human values and international humanitarian law in their handling of Israeli captives. The organization highlighted significant efforts made to preserve these individuals’ lives amid intense Israeli military bombardments. Hamas also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of targeting and attempting to eliminate these captives.

The military arm of Hamas, known as the Al-Qassam Brigades, transferred custody of three Israeli captives to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Saturday. The handover took place in the city of Deir al-Balah, located in the central Gaza Strip.

As part of the ongoing prisoner exchange deal within the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, Israel has released 183 Palestinian detainees, marking the fifth phase of the accord.

Abdullah al-Zaghari, the leader of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, announced that individuals who were recently released have been transported via International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) buses to the city of Ramallah, situated in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs announced that among the released prisoners, 42 were from the occupied West Bank, three hailed from Jerusalem al-Quds, and 27 originated from the Gaza Strip. All individuals had been serving either life sentences or extended prison terms, according to the statement.

According to the statement, seven of the released prisoners are set to be deported to destinations outside of the Palestinian territories.
