Iran expressed its gratitude towards South Africa for initiating a genocide case against Israel

**Tehran – Iran’s Ambassador to Pretoria praised South Africa for initiating legal proceedings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding allegations of Israeli genocide against Palestinians.**

During a ceremony held in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, on Thursday, Mansour Shakib-Mehr delivered a speech commemorating the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

At a recent event, the Iranian ambassador expressed gratitude to South Africa for initiating legal proceedings in late December 2023 against Israel at the United Nations’ highest judicial authority. The case pertains to alleged breaches of the 1948 Genocide Convention by Israel concerning the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.

In other parts of his address, the diplomat characterized Iran as a highly independent nation with significant influence on the global stage.

Since the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Iran has achieved considerable advancements across various sectors, notably in emerging technologies, healthcare, defense industries, space exploration, and the utilization of peaceful nuclear energy.
