Gulf Cooperation Council:Israeli attacks on Syrian territory threaten regional security and stability

Riyadh, SANA-Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Mohammed Al-Badawi stressed that the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syrian territories represent a flagrant violation of international agreements and laws and threaten the security and stability of the region.

“The repeated attacks by the occupying forces underscore their persistent approach to undermining opportunities for peace and destabilizing the region”, the Security Council website quoted Al-Badawei as saying in a statement on Thursday, stressing “the importance of urgent and decisive action by the international community to put an end to these flagrant violations and prevent the escalation of tensions threatening regional and international security.”

Al-Badawi asserted the statement issued by the 46th Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting condemning Israel’s repeated attacks against Syria in clear violation of its sovereignty and the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement, and highlighted the need for the occupying forces to withdraw from all occupied Syrian territory and respect the relevant Security Council resolutions.
