israel’s cooperation with Takfiris a reality: Hezbollah

Hezbollah deputy leader says the recent Israeli attack on a Hezbollah convoy in Syrian Golan Heights last week proved the regime is cooperating with Takfiri elements in Syria.

“The assault has revealed the degree of cooperation between Takfiris and Israel,” Sheikh Naim Qassem said during a ceremony marking seven days since Hezbollah fighters were killed by Israel in Qunaitra in an area close to the Syrian Israeli border.

Qunaitra attack

Six Hezbollah members and an Iranian commander were killed in the attack on January 17.

Among the dead was Jihad Mughniyah, son of the late Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyah.

The Iranian commander Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Allahdadi was on a consultative mission to Syria when the attack happened.

Qassem said the site of the attack, which was only seven kilometers from Israeli border, was in close vicinity of the al-Nusra front stronghold at the time.

According to Qassem, this reveals how much the Israelis and Takfiri terrorists inside Syria are close in their cooperation against the resistance.

He also said that Israel was trying to set new rules in its battle with Hezbollah, attempts that Qassem said will “fail permanently”.

Israel-Takfiri link

The head of Hezbollah’s executive council has elaborated on the close links between Israel and Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

Sheikh Hashem Safieddine, who is also a cousin of Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, said that Israel has been providing “unprecedented support” for Takfiris fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“What happened in Qunaitra is confirmation that cooperation and coordination between the Zionists and the Takfiris is not fiction but reality,” he said in another ceremony marking one week since the attack happened.

Safieddine also said that Israel uses its military capabilities to back the Takfiri terrorists in Syria as it views their activities in line with its policies against the resistance axis, of which the Syrian government is a major part.

Fearful of revenge

In another development, Israeli media reported on Sunday that the regime’s foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman has departed for Russia where he was expected to express Tel Aviv’s deep concern about any potential retaliation by Hezbollah and Iran.

Lieberman was reportedly to plea to Iran and Hezbollah via Russia that the regime is not interested in an escalation of hostilities.

Senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said Saturday that Israel should brace for “a special retaliation” for the attack in Golan Heights.

Hezbollah has also vowed its response to the attack will be extremely painful.

IRGC chief, Major General Mohammad Ali Ja’fari, also warned Israel on Tuesday that the Zionist entity “should await annihilating thunderbolts.”
