A vehicle plows into a crowd in Munich, Germany, with authorities having apprehended the suspect

According to reports from German media, a vehicle has collided with a group of pedestrians in Munich, resulting in injuries to at least 20 individuals.

The event took place on Thursday, prompting the police to arrive at the location near Munich’s central train station.

Authorities announced on Platform X that they have “secured” the driver, ensuring that he no longer poses a threat.

Authorities report that the driver implicated in the recent accident is an asylum seeker with a criminal record for drug-related and theft offenses.

Deputy Police Chief Christian Huber announced the apprehension of a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker, who was detained following an incident where police officers discharged their firearms at the vehicle.

This event coincides with the upcoming Munich Security Conference, scheduled to commence on Friday, roughly 1.5 kilometers from the location of Thursday’s incident. U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are expected to arrive later today.
