Abu Obeida lauds the resilience of the people, describing their steadfastness as legendary

Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for Hamas's military faction, the al-Qassam Brigades, delivered a televised address on Monday to commemorate the first anniversary of Israel's military operations in Gaza.

Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for Hamas’s military division, the al-Qassam Brigades, appeared on television on Monday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Israel’s conflict with Gaza.

In a recent address, Abu Obeida highlighted a number of pivotal themes, emphasizing the steadfast commitment of the Palestinian people to their ongoing struggle for liberation.

He further commended the solidarity efforts in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, highlighting their genuine support for the Palestinian cause.

Abu Obeida remarked that a year has elapsed since a highly professional and successful commando operation significantly impacted the Zionist opposition and altered the regional dynamics.

He stated that the operation was conducted in retaliation to Israel’s expansion of settlements, efforts towards Judaization, aggressive actions against prisoners, violations of sacrosanct boundaries, and the comprehensive blockade imposed on Gaza.

“The Palestinian population has exhibited remarkable resilience in the face of disappointment from neighboring allies and the perceived cowardice and collaboration of certain governmental regimes.”

He pledged to honor the sacrifices of the people, asserting that despite the harsh actions of adversarial forces and the oppressive powers supporting them, including the US administration and certain Western governments, their efforts will not be overlooked.

Conversely, he addressed the situation concerning the Israeli hostages currently detained in Gaza.

In a recent statement, the speaker addressed the issue of captives, suggesting that the release of all hostages could have been achieved a year earlier. According to the statement, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s reported ambitions allegedly conflicted with the interests of both the captives and their families, preventing such a resolution.

The spokesperson stated that from the outset, the decision was made to keep the captives in a secure location. This decision aligns with both religious and humanitarian principles. They emphasized that the captives are being held safely in anticipation of a potential prisoner exchange.
