Afghan suicide blast kills 12 including children
At least 12 people were killed in a suicide attack claimed by the Islamic State on the eastern city of Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
The bomber blew up his explosive belt near a gas station; instantly killing two officers working for Afghanistan’s intelligence agency. The huge fire sparked by the explosion also killed 10 civilians including children.
“Most of the victims were children who were working in a car wash,” said Sohrab Qaderi, a member of the provincial council.
The Islamic State organization immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
“A martyrdom attack using an explosives jacket hit a gathering of Afghan intelligence”, the terror group said on its official social media account: Aamaq Agency.
Last week, an Islamic State suicide bomber targeted Afghanistan’s Sikh minority in Jalalabad, killing 13 members of the community.
