“Air Cover by Turkey and the US is Tantamount to Continuation of the War”
Sara Flounders, with the International Action Center from New York, and Jihad Mouracadeh, a political commentator from Beirut, to discuss the latest plan by the US and Turkey to provide foreign mercenaries with air support in Syria.
Flounders says the air cover by Turkey and the US is tantamount to continuation of the war.
Waging the war on Syria would not be possible without US planning through Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel and some Persian Gulf monarchies, because they are against an independent Syria which disagrees with the unilateral policies of the US and Israel in the region, she maintains.
The war on Syria is a war on the region and Turkey is very deeply involved in meddling in the internal affairs of its neighboring state, she argues.
The political expert also says the new declaration for providing air cover for foreign-backed militants in Syria proves that previous plots against the Syrian government have so far failed, because the authorities and people are determined to save their country.
The violence in Syria is a “Western-organized” act of intervention and an effort to overthrow the democratically elected government in Syria, Flounders says, concluding that the West and its regional allies have been pursuing the policy of regime change in the Arab country.
In turn, Mouracadeh says the al-Nusra Front and a variety of other militant groups in Syria have been coordinating their moves with Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and this coordination allowed them to take over Idlib and Jisr al-Shughur.
