Al-Dahhak: Israeli occupation and US administration bear responsibility for any escalation in the region
New York, SANA- Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Qussai al-Dahhak, held the Israeli occupation entity and the US administration fully responsible for the Israeli attacks and for any additional escalation in the region that threatens peace and security there.
Al-Dahhak’s remarks came during a session of the Security Council Sunday on the threats to international peace and security.
The Syrian diplomat added that the time has come for serious action in which Western countries review their destructive policies towards the region and its people and take the immediate initiative to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and end the illegal military presence of US forces on Syrian territory.
“What our region has witnessed is a natural and inevitable result of repeated acts of aggression and serious violations of international law and the United Nations Charter committed by the Israeli occupation authorities on Syrian lands and other countries, benefiting from the support provided to them by the American administration,” al-Dahhak said.
Al-Dahhak added “Syria has repeatedly warned the Security Council and the General Secretariat through its official letters of the dangers of escalation of the situation that the Israeli occupation authorities seek to cover up their failure to achieve their military goals in Gaza.”
“Syria holds the Israeli occupation authorities and the US administration fully responsible for the Israeli attacks and for any additional escalation in the region that threatens peace and security there, and it affirms that the region has suffered sufficiently from the violations of international law and the principles and purposes of the UN Charter by the Zionist entity and the US administration, and its allies,” al-Dahhak said.
Al-Dahhak stressed that it is time for serious action in which these countries review their destructive policies towards our region and our peoples.
He slammed the statements of some Western delegations, which once again expressed their approach which is based on hypocrisy and double standards.
Al-Dahhak pointed out that what the Islamic Republic of Iran did was the correct and effective exercise of the legitimate right to self-defense.
He added that on April 25, 1945, San Francisco Conference which established the United Nations was launched, which established the Charter to be the compass for our joint work, and included it in its basic principles.
Ambassador al-Dahhak concluded “Syria, a founding member of the United Nations, still believes in this organization, its principles and purposes, and looks forward to it fulfilling its assigned role in maintaining international peace and security and addressing the root causes of the challenges our region is witnessing, most notably the Israeli occupation, which prevents achieving security and stability for our countries.
