Al-Nusra Withdraws from 30th Street in Yarmouk Camp
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) and the Palestinian Liberation Army (PLA) carried out a series of operations on 30th Street, targeting a large presence of Al-Nusra Front (Jabhat Al-Nusra) fighters entrenched in the buildings adjacent to the former’s headquarters.
Yesterday, after 4 hours of intense firefights between the opposing forces, the large contingent from the Al-Nusra Front withdrew their fighters from 30th St., abandoning their fortifications they developed over the last few months and their abundance of heavy weaponry they used on PFLP-GC and PLA positions in the Yarmouk Camp District of the Rif Dimashq Governorate.
According to a PLA source, a total of 19 Al-Nusra Front fighters were killed during the clashes with the latter and the PFLP-GC over the last 3 days; this casualties list includes the Al-Nusra Front field commander “‘Abdel-Jabbar Al-Na’eem Moqdad” and his aide, Isma’aeel Mohammad Suleimani. The source further added that the Al-Nusra Front attempted to reenter 30th St. today, but they were repelled by loyalist forces before they could advance.
