Aleppo: The Syrian Army Advances to the Strategic Al-Jandoul Roundabout
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) advanced to the imperative Al-Jandoul Roundabout after clashing with ‘Ahrar Al-Sham and Liwaa Al-Tawheed militants west of the Al-Oweeja District in the Aleppo Governorate. The advance to the Al-Jandoul Roundabout comes 3 days after the SAA and NDF captured Al-Manasheer and the Al-Bureijj Stone Quarries; this has led to the Islamic Front (Jabhat Al-Islamiyya) being flanked from the east and west.
Continuing their success northwest of the Al-Jandoul Roundabout, the SAA and NDF captured the Wood Factory, killing and capturing scores of militants in the process. The SAA and NDF have positioned themselves near the Saraya Night Club, where they look to infiltrate Islamic Front defenses and retake the Al-Jandoul Roundabout.
According to a military source in Aleppo, the Al-Bureijj front has become the most volatile battle in the province, as firefights engulf the village north of the Hanano District. Earlier today, Islamic Front militants attempted to counter the SAA’s success at the Al-Bureijj Stone Quarries; however, they were repelled during a storm of air raids by the Syrian Arab Air Force. Al-Masdar News has received reports of firefights south of the Al-Bureijj Stone Quarries, but later a source confirmed that the violence subsided.
