All-or-nothing battle immerses strategic Latakia town
The battle for the key town of Kinsibba is under way, as both the Syrian Armed Forces and Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) trade blows in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside.
Over the weekend, the jihadist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh recaptured Kinsibba and its surrounding hills after launching a counter-attack against the Syrian Armed Forces.
However, on Sunday, the Syrian Marines, alongside the Desert Hawks Brigade and National Defense Forces, conducted another wide-scale assault to retake Kinsibba and all the sites they lost the day prior to this attack.
Initial reports indicated that the Syrian Armed Forces captured the town; however, a military source told Al-Masdar News on Monday morning that intense fighting is still ongoing inside of Kinsibba.
For both parties; this battle taking place inside Kinsibba is the most important firefight taking place in northern Latakia.
Should either side lose the town; it would spell catastrophe for them, as the sheer loss of life and resources will force one party to begin a mass retreat.
