Annual Imam Khomeini’s Conf. mounted in London
Islamic Centre of England hosted Imam Khomeini Conference with religious thinkers and clerics in attendance to mark the 27the passing away anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA) , reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Academics, thinks and Muslim religious scholars from various parts of the world addressed the event and shed light on Imam Khomeini’s thought in this regard.
The event was also centered around the place women in divine religion of Islam, making an attempt to dispel misconceptions and bias with this connection.
Women’s Role in the Islamic Revolution (During and Post Revolution), Women’s Resistance to Oppression Yesterday and Today (Islamophobia, Prejudice against women in particular Muslim women), The Rights of Women in Islam and in the View of Imam Khomeini, The Challenges Facing Muslim Women from Dictatorship to Cultural Restrictions, and The Status of Iranian Women Today were of topics discussed in the event.
Head of the Islamic Center of England Mohammad Ali Shomali, Muhammad Jalal Fairooz from Bahrain, Abbas Di Palma from Italy, women’s rights activist Zahra al-Alawi, as well as Rodney Shakespeare, a renowned political commentator and lecturer at Jakarta’s Trisakti University were of the key speakers in the conference.
Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Rouhollah Mousavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, was born to a family of religious scholars in 1902 in the central Iranian city of Khomein.
Imam Khomeini contributed many years of his life to resistance against the US-backed Pahlavi dynasty, and eventually paved the way for its downfall in the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
