Ansarullah to suspend Red Sea activities contingent if ceasefire agreement realized

The Ansarullah resistance movement in Yemen has announced its intention to halt operations in the Red Sea as a gesture of support for the Palestinian people, contingent upon the implementation of a ceasefire in Gaza set for Sunday.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, the spokesperson for Ansarullah, expressed the Yemeni movement’s endorsement of the ceasefire agreement brokered between Hamas and Israel concerning the situation in Gaza.

Al-Bukhaiti has declared that operations, including assaults on naval forces and commercial vessels, will cease if Israel halts its offensive actions in Gaza.

Abdel Salam Al-Houthi, a prominent leader within the movement, lauded the ceasefire agreement, characterizing it as a significant advancement.

He stated that the Israeli and American adversaries were compelled to reach an agreement in Gaza following months marked by severe acts of violence.

He asserted that Hamas’s political position continues to align with the resilience and sacrifices made by the citizens and resistance fighters, both on the front lines and in other arenas.

The actions and sacrifices of the Mujahideen in the Gaza Strip are described as significant and powerful, having a notable impact on the morale of opposing forces.

In a statement, Ansarullah issued a stern warning to opposing forces in the Red Sea, cautioning them about the potential repercussions of any hostile actions against Yemen during the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza.

In a statement released early Sunday, the movement announced its intentions to counter any acts of aggression with targeted military operations against those forces, emphasizing that there would be no limits or restrictions on their response.

In November 2023, the Yemeni military initiated offensive operations targeting Israel. This move was described as a reaction to what has been termed a genocide in Gaza, with reports indicating that approximately 47,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the conflict to date.

In its ongoing activities, the group has also focused on vessels with Israeli ownership or affiliations in the Red Sea, which are en route to ports located in occupied territories.

Recent operations have delivered a considerable impact on the Israeli economy, according to reports.

The United States, United Kingdom, and Israel have initiated numerous military strikes across Yemen in a strategic effort to curtail pro-Palestinian military activities emanating from the region.

Yemen has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting resistance efforts, pledging to persist with its operations until the cessation of Israeli military actions in Gaza.

Following a prolonged 15-month conflict marked by intense hostilities in the Gaza region, Israel has reached a ceasefire agreement, aligning with terms set forth by Hamas. The ceasefire comes after Israel’s efforts fell short of its declared military objectives, which included the dismantlement of Hamas.
